The Summer of Love 1969, the Summer of Woodstock, was the pinnacle of the 1960's era which ushered in new freedoms. The 1960s were a time of transition in every aspect of American life. Groovy Cool Chics ruled the Fashion runways. Twiggy set the pace first, then Bridget Bardot & Jackie Kennedy. The mini skirt & dress circa 1965: The Pill Box Hat, Bell-Bottoms, Tie-dye, Hippies, Batik & Paisley prints psychedelic prints & PUCCI. Stiletto-heeled shoes were widely popular. The simple Shift Dress was born (Lilly Pulitzer). The September 5th, 1969 issue of Life Magazine featured ultra groovy poster designer Peter Max. Movies like the original Thomas Crown Affair and The Beatles Yellow Submarine were playing. The Beatles White Album played. Rolling Stone Magazine was founded in 1967 and The Doors released their first album in 1967. In 1969 Neil Armstrong walked on The Moon.
The Summer of Love in 69' is remembered as a time of change of new freedom and stronger calls to end the Vietnam War. By 1968 we had 540,000 US troops in Vietnam: November 13, 1969 Americans learned about The Mai Lai Massacre and it took until 1973 for The Paris Peace Accords. 1969 The Summer of Love was the beginning of a rush toward a new era of irrevocable change, freedom and modernity a different world.
