Susan Lanci Designs was formed in September 2002 in Carlsbad, California. Like many entrepreneurial companies, it was the result of trying to satisfy an unmet need. Susan was concerned about collapsed trachea and was looking for a harness that would protect the neck of her Yorkie, Bailey. In addition to the safety concern, Bailey was a certified therapy dog who accompanied Susan on nursing home visits. This necessitated a harness that would not only wear and fit well but be attractive. When she could not find what she was looking for, she took it upon herself to design and construct her own. The result was the “Bailey” jacket. Soon people were asking her where she got it and from this desire the company was born.
At Susan Lanci Designs, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality, most comfortable products for the small dog. We feel it is important to keep jobs in America and so our products are constructed locally here in California; this also allows us to continually monitor production and quality. Premium materials are used throughout. Our primary fabric is genuine upholstery grade Ultrasuede® that we import from Japan. This fabric meets all of the very stringent industry requirements that is demanded for commercial seating – washable, breathable, colorfast and it passes the Wizenbeek 200,000 double-stroke abrasion test. This is why companies like Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lamborghini use Ultrasuede® in their show car interiors. In addition, many of our colors are proprietary, custom color matches that we have formulated to our specification in Japan. We feel it is important to offer our customers materials that are unique and not the usual “off the rack” colors and fabrics.
Our crystals are exclusively Swarovski. In consideration of our commitment quality and design, Swarovski has accepted us into their Crystallized™ program. As proof of this, each of our products bears the “Made with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements” hang tag with our company’s identification number. The “D” rings are steel and welded closed. All of our hardware has recently been converted to nickel silver finish. Every effort is made to assure that quality materials and construction are used throughout. It is our goal to provide our customers with top quality, well designed products at a good value.
